I do apologize for the lack of activity on this site lately. The red hot temps we have seen in my area have curtailed the hiking outings quite a bit, though thankfully these now appear to be behind us. I will be playing catch-up on the trail summaries, as well as some equipment reviews and recommendations. The lack of rain that came with the heat has affected much of how nature has been behaving this summer, so I have placed a number of my hiking naturalist posts on hold pending rain, or the late fall, whichever comes first. My reasoning behind this is to give you the most accurate of descriptions when speaking to what you can expect to see and hear while out on the trail. I am working on a post that touches on what to expect from nature when hiking in a drought stricken area, which I hope to post shortly.
Thank you to all that responded to be request for input on what you did for National Trails Day. I will be posting the best responses in the next week or so. Also coming up is a quick guide for those of you willing to brave the near 100 degree weather a large portion of the country has been seeing.
Stay cool, and keep hiking!
